My music program is very eclectic, but at its core is the consistently superb Gameplan K-5 active music curriculum by Jeff Kriske and Randy DeLelles. When COvid hit, I was concerned that I would have to keep making up a new curriculum as I went along, since there is so much singing and movement and both were severely restricted or banned. It did happen to some extent, but I was excited to discover that a great deal of the material in Gameplan transferred well to Covid restricted lessons. When I visited classes on a cart, we did our movement around individual desks, and instad of singing we would say the words while bounding or patting our knees, then hum the melody while doing the actions. The children were able to focus on the words (more repetition) , and on matching pitch while humming without words, , and we had lots of audiation practice, too!
